As I may have mentioned before, Hellenismos is the practice and worship related to reconstructing the religion of the Greek gods and goddesses of Olympus in the modern day and context. A question often asked of me, and relatively easily answered, is "Why?" I've had an interest in the ancient Greek deities ever since I was a very little girl. To make a very long story short, I've been reading classical Greek mythology since before I can ever remember, and many little incidences led up to my final realization and acceptance that this was where I belonged in a religious context.

There are many different types of polytheism (the worship of multiple deities) that people practice, and I am what can be considered a "hard polytheist." The generally accepted and most often used definition of "hard polytheist" is one that believes in the gods and goddesses as entirely separate entities with their own distinct personalities and responsibilities.

As a devotee of the Olympians I do what I can to include them as a part of my everyday life. They are ever-present in all that I do, and I try to honor them in everything I attempt and accomplish. In return, they have given me much to be thankful and grateful for within my life. Someone once made a comment that I agree with wholeheartedly, "The gods help those who first try to help themselves."

For all that they have done and given to me, I give them the utmost thanks.
